Supporting Successful Transitions

Starting school is an important time in the lives of children and families.
A positive start can help you child develop a lifelong love of learning and this is our goal for your child at Graceville.
We will be providing the following opportunities for your family to familiarize yourselves with our school and give an insight into  areas of learning and development.

Prep Program

In their first year of school, students learn through teaching interactions with others, experimentation, practice and play in the classroom and school community.
  • Priority is given to literacy and numeracy development as these are the foundations upon which further learning is built.
  • Opportunities to develop literacy and numeracy are found in all subjects but particularly in English and Mathematics. Learning in a classroom and belonging to a school community are key to the first year at school.
  • Another goal for our learners at Graceville is that through the years of schooling that they develop a set of learning assets that can be applied to a variety of situations. Being curious learners and learning though inquiry is also another important part of learning experiences at Graceville.

Our future Prep students will also enjoy participating in small group activities in our Prep classrooms, giving them the opportunity to meet teachers, make new friends, and become familiar with their new learning environment.
