Graceville State School considers the participation in sporting
activities to be an integral part of the development of our students to
becoming lifelong learners. The values that our students gain from
participating in sporting activities are immeasurable and invaluable. We offer
our students a wide variety of sporting experiences through our Physical
Education curriculum and our participation in the West Taylor Bridge Sporting
District interschool sports fixtures.
The West Taylor Bridge
District offers two sporting seasons throughout the year. Each season involves
a 10 week period of sports of a wide variety. Students can elect to participate
in a range of sports including cricket, netball, softball, water polo,
basketball, soccer, touch football and AFL. All children in Years 5 and 6
are encouraged to participate in these fixtures to develop sportsmanship and
commitment to a team environment.
The representative
pathway for our students through to the Met West Regional Sporting trials and
State and National Trials is through the Eastern Taipans District. All children
in the upper primary grades are given the chance to attend these district
trials and to compete at the higher levels offered across a number of different
sports.
